Sometimes it is not pretty - this was one of those times, but fair play the team put in a mammoth last 5 minutes in defence to hold out and take home the spoils.
Credit firstly to Chesham, a team who Drifters had beaten handsomely earlier in the season. They organised and devised a very effective game plan which played to their strengths and stopped Drifters from playing their fast-paced running rugby.
Tried from Karl Quartey after a flowing move, were countered by 2 forward tries by Chesham. After taking a quick tap penalty playing under penalty advantage Drifters scored a forwards try right out of the Chesham mould, Josh Newton making the final surge. Josh Williams kicking the conversion plumb between the posts from 20 yards wide of the uprights which proved, ultimately, to be the winning points.
An extremely hard fought match, not one of our finest of the season but all that matters is the win in Finals. Well Done boys.
