I hope that everyone is well, staying safe and also coping with the current situation we all find ourselves in.
We were all massively disappointed that the season was brought to an abrupt halt towards the end of March, but I think we all understand the enormity of the problem and that the decisions made by our government, the RFU (our governing sporting body) and our club were in everyone’s best interests.
The season had been progressing nicely with all teams doing well, and most reporting an increase in the number of players. It is down to all of our volunteers, parents and players that the club is able to offer rugby to over 120 children every week. Please remember that all of our mini and junior coaches and volunteers are unpaid and give up their time each week.
Despite the disruption to the season, we are now turning our attentions to next season and starting to plan. We have now arranged our fixtures for all teams and they can be seen on the club website, and will also be shared by your coaches via your teams WhatsApp groups. Thanks to Nicki Farquhar for sorting these.
We will be monitoring very closely the Government and RFU guidance over the coming weeks and are hopeful (Keeping everything crossed!!) that our season will start in September, and also that it may be possible for some form of training to start a little earlier.
Rest assured that we will only confirm this when it is absolutely safe to do so.
It’s worth remembering that Dronfield Rugby, and Gosforth Fields invest every surplus penny back into the club and our focus is to safeguard our clubs financial wellbeing during these uncertain times. This will enable us to be ready for the new season and get back to the rugby as soon as we can!
