Dulwich created the first chance of the match in the 4th minute when a shot from Ibrahim Kargbo was blocked by a Tonbridge defender amidst appeals for handball, but these were waved away by the referee.

However The Angels were soon on the front foot and their first chance arrived in the 11th minute. Turner played a pass across to Ramadan and his cross just evaded the onrushing Read coming in at the far post

The Hamlet were sloppy in possession and this encouraged the visitors forward, but Whitnell was only able to fire his 17th minute effort too close to Preston Edwards who made a comfortable save and the Dulwich keeper was again able to save easily from Turner three minutes later.

Dulwich should have taken the lead in the 21st minute when a cross from Nyren Clunis found Jay May in front of goal, but the striker got the ball caught under his feet and the danger passed.

May was again unable to turn the ball in after a cross from Gavin Tomlin was knocked down by Nyren Clunis at the far post, but Tonbridge could easily have gone ahead when Whitnell was denied by the legs of Edwards.

However, it was Dulwich who struck first in the 35th minute. Sanchez Ming crossed for Jay May to head towards the far corner but Henly flew across his goal to push it wide. From the resulting corner Nathan Ferguson was allowed a free header and powered it beyond Henly.

Tonbridge came back and almost equalised in the 42nd minute but this time Jay May was back to hack away the ball that he had almost turned into his own net.

With a minute until the half time interval there were a couple of crucial events in the match. Jay May showed perseverance in the penalty area as he and Folkes fought over the ball, with the loose ball falling to Nathan Green to thump into the roof of the net.

Folkes felt that he had been fouled by May but took his protests too far for the referee's liking and was shown a straight red card for his extended protestations.

Half Time 2-0

Dulwich opened the second half brightly and Iffy Allen beat Henly but also the crossbar with his chip. However, the sloppiness returned and they invited Tonbridge back into the match, a chance they gleefully took. Having seen a free kick headed across goal without there being a crucial touch, the visitors then won a corner. When Dulwich failed to defend it, Sonny MIles was given time and space to shoot home.

Tonbridge, despite their numerical disadvantage, were clearly the better side, although without being able to fashion any clear chances. For Dulwich, Jay May almost got on the end of a Clunis cross just past the hour and Gavin Tomlin then hesitated in getting his effort away when well placed.

Iffy Allen was booked for simulation, although he appeared to be clipped from behind as his run took him into the penalty area.

Smith and Parkinson were both off target with headers, whilst The Hamlet had a lucky escape with five minutes remaining. A cross from Small flashed across the six yard box with both Read and Turner unable to reach it.

A further scramble in the Dulwich penalty area saw Read's effort cleared from in front of the line, from which Dulwich broke forward and, when the cross wasn't cleared, substitute Dipo Akinyemi was on the spot to thump the ball home to make the game safe with three minutes remaining.

That meant there was no way back for the gallant Angels and Henly made sure the result didn't get worse by denying both Tomlin and Akinyemi during stoppage time.
