in association with Love Music, Hate Racism and Fans for Diversity, the event will take place in the club bar and will feature live music and talks from:
• Paul Canoville – The first Black player to play for Chelsea
• Anwar Uddin - The first British Asian player to play professionally in the UK.
Fans are encouraged to wear their club colours for the occasion.
Co-organiser, David Rogers, a Dulwich Hamlet fan told us, “We are proud to host this inaugural event and we hope the movement will expand throughout the football community and bring the music and football community together in our fight against racism”.
Zak Cochrane from Love Music Hate Racism said: “Football and music share a lot in common, they both have a tremendous unifying potential - an ability to bring people from all walks of life together. But it’s not automatic that this will happen.
“That is why it is so important that there are events like the gig on the 8th March which is bringing together football and music lovers against racism and division.”
Anwar Uddin of Fans for Diversity added: “There is so much great work being done by football fans across the country who are working towards positive change. It’s great that the Fans for Diversity campaign can highlight and support that activity.”
