Boreham Wood defender Mark Ricketts joins Hak and Terry's rebuild

Hakan Hayrettin has signed another defender, bringing in the vastly experienced Mark Ricketts after his departure from Boreham Wood.

Mark, 38, departed the National League side in the summer after seven years there, captaining the side and appearing in more than 200 league games during that time. He also famously scored the goal which saw the Wood beat AFC Bournemouth in the FA Cup Fourth Round in 2022, which set up their trip to Everton in the last-16.

Mark also spent seven years with Woking, and has made more than 500 appearances in the National League and National League South during his career. Whilst with Woking, he won the National League South title in 2012, and also collected an FA Trophy winner's medal with Ebbsfleet United in 2008.

"I'm very excited to be here," said Mark. "I'm a London boy myself so I've known about the club forever. It's got a big following and is a famous club in London."

"I've made the decision to stop full-time football, to look for a part-time club, as I have just finished a six-year university course in Computing & IT and Business, and am looking to move into that area whilst still being able to play. I have played against Hakan's sides down the years and know what he's about, and I have also worked with Terry for a season at Boreham Wood, and whilst I spoke with other clubs, this seemed the right choice."

"I think I bring a lot of grit and determination, I am a hard worker and try and give my all every game and wear my heart on my sleeve. I like to get about the pitch and lead and organise as well."

"Mark is going to be very important to us," added Hakan. "He’s got bags of experience and has been the Boreham Wood captain for many years."

"His desire to win something is very important, he showed huge desire to come to Dulwich, which is important, and he sees it as a huge opportunity for himself to win a league title."

"He is of the right ilk and character, Terry and I both know him and what his values are, and he will be very important on and off the pitch for us."

A very warm welcome Mark!
