Dulwich will face Hornchurch in the Buildbase FA Trophy First Round after they secured a hard fought victory at CHippenham in their Third Qualifying Round Replay.

Gavin Rose restored David IJaha and Nyren Clunis to the starting side with Ben Chapman and Lewis White dropping to the bench, whilst the bench was bolstered by Jeffrey Monakana and Preston Edwards and it took barely a minute for Dulwich to go in front. Nathan Smith lofted a cross from the left touchline and Danny Mills got there in front of Puddy to head into the empty goal.

However, in a scrappy game they were unable to build on the lead despite coming close from an Ainsworth corner that was headed inches wide by Christian Smith at the far post. Ben Dempsey then seized on a poor clearance by Puddy but his 40 yard effort was held by the retreating keeper.

In the 21st minute, Richard Orlu was harshly penalised for a foul near the corner flag and from the resulting free kick the home side levelled as Charlie Grainger could only push it out to the waiting Curtis McDonald, who tucked it home.

Neither keeper was seriously tested for the remainder of the half, with Grainger saving a long range effort comfortably and Puddy fielding a header from Mills, although the home side did see an effort disallowed for offside just past the half hour.

Half Time 1-1

Charlie Grainger did not reappear for the second half and was replaced by Preston Edwards who gave an assured performance and was only called upon to make one meaningful save in the half.

Dulwich could have gone in front again in the 50th minute as a left wing cross found Ainsworth at the far post, but his effort struck the outside of the post, whilst Mills headed another cross wide. Dulwich came very close to retaking the lead in the 67th minute as a ball into the area saw Ainsworth volley into the face of the advancing Puddy and Nyren Clunis strike the rebound against the crossbar.

AS the game became more attritional, Dulwich found the winner in the 75th minute. David Ijaha won the ball on the left touchline and found Dominic Vose. He switched the play to the right and when Quade Taylor lofted a cross to the far post, Ijaha arrived to volley past Puddy.

Chippenham exerted pressure as they searched for an equaliser, pumping long balls forward at every opportunity, but Dulwich held firm and it wasn't until four minutes from time that Preston Edwards made a serious save, flying to his right to push away a dangerous cross whipped into the penalty area.

Despite four minutes of added time and many more balls pumped hopefully forward, the Dulwich defence was able to repel all that the home side could muster, without undue alarm.

Final score 1-2
