Things show no signs of improvement as Dulwich put in another unacceptable performance to be deservedly beaten by a Hornchurch side that, with better finishing, could have won by more. In fact, home keeper Joe Wright will rarely have an easier afternoon.
The one and only save that caused Wright to spring across his goal came in the 7th minute of the match as a good run and shot by Lionel Ainsworth saw him leap to his right to push it out. That was pretty much as good as it got and, within a minute, Dickson wasted a chance for the home side after a ball was allowed to travel straight down the middle of the pitch.
Wright rescued his dawdling defence by snatching the ball in front of Lewis White before Preston Edwards did well to save a long range effort. Lewis White had another chance in the 18th minute, but tried to find Ainsworth rather than take on the responsibility of shooting on goa, whilst Nathan Smith had a weak effort easily held.
Kearney had a couple of wayward efforts, whilst the home side forced some dangerous corners, but it was not surprising that there were no goals by half time.
Half Time 0-0
If Dulwich were poor in the first half, they were a whole lot worse after the break. Early pressure from the home side eventually led to the only goal as a free kick was only half cleared and Nathan Cooper volleyed home from 15 yards out in the 53rd minute.
Almost immediately, Quade Taylor missed an acceptable chance at the far post but it was pretty much the last seen of The Hamlet as an attacking force until injury time. Clark could have extended the home side's lead but he wasted one chance and Preston Edwards made a smart save from another.
The home side had a few opportunities on the break to put the result beyond doubt but poor pass selection and some smart saves by Preston Edwards ensured that Dulwich remained in the game. As the match entered injury time, Quade Taylor could only volley an inviting cross wide and that proved to be the last chance for either side.
Final score 1-0.
