Hamlet fielded a similar 22 man squad to that used at Whitehawk three days earlier, again giving each player 45 minutes on the field. Player Coach Michael Timlin replaced Will Wood as a left back option. Right winger Kalvin Kalala (Triallist D on Saturday) has now signed, having played against Hamlet for Dartford last season and for Torquay in their National South Championship season. A new Triallist E featured on the left wing in place of Saturday's Triallist C, who is now expected to join a rival National South club.

Hamlet started with what looked on paper to be their stronger XI but were made to look somewhat undercooked at this early stage of pre-season, with Sutton scoring both their goals inside the first fifteen minutes. Ali Smith gave the visitors a 7th minute lead, swivelling to fire past Charlie Grainger from near the penalty spot after Hamlet had failed to clear the ball. In the 15th minute Hamlet were punished for sluggish defending from a throw on the halfway line and ended up chasing shadows, as the ball was swiftly relayed across the pitch for a triallist to be played into the box to shoot past Grainger. Hamlet had barely crossed the halfway line by this point but settled down to gain a foothold. Nana Owusu forced a corner with a fierce drive from 25 yards that was turned away by Sutton's triallist goalkeeper, Sam Hart almost put through his own goal with a diving header that had to be pushed behind by the keeper, then George Porter had the ball in the Sutton net after Dan Smith had won a header from Andre Blackman's throw down the left touchline, only to be flagged offside.

Hamlet's second half XI was quick out of the blocks, showing exactly the sort of urgency and cohesion that had been lacking in the first fifteen minutes. Danny Mills had a header touched over the bar, Jamie Splatt tested the keeper with a 30 yard free kick and Ronnie Vint headed over from a corner. Sutton made wholesale changes on the hour mark and substitute Luke Gambin tested Hamlet keeper Joe Osaghae, who once again looked impressively sharp and capable between the sticks.
