The first midweek game of the 2023-24 season sees the Hamlet take on National League Bromley at Champion Hill in the Glyn Beverly Memorial Cup.

We began our summer of friendlies with a 2-1 defeat to Altona '93 in the Jäger-Kail Cup on Saturday, with Julius Zeher scoring either side of a Michael Chambers equaliser for the Germans. That game saw Hakan Hayrettin use 22 players in a mixture of new faces and trialists.

Hamlet fans saw 13 of the 15 confirmed squad members during Saturday's game with our friends from Germany, with Ryley Scott missing out through injury whilst Cem Tumkaya was absent on holiday.

Cem is in line to make his first appearance this evening having trained on Monday, whilst Kreshnic Krasniqi, who played on Saturday, has now also re-signed for the Hamlet after making 31 appearances last season. The majority of trialists who appeared at the weekend are also expected to play tonight, with a slight injury concern to the centre-back who started in the number 8 jersey in that match.

The Ravens are kicking off their pre-season schedule in earnest this evening, although a Bromley XI did beat Hastings United 2-0 in a friendly last week. Our visitors had an excellent 22-23 campaign, finishing seventh in the table to secure a second playoff spot in three seasons, eventually losing to Chesterfield in the semi-finals.

Bromley are the current holders of the Memorial Cup, played to honour a man who represented Bromley as Chairman during the 1980s and 1990s, and was also Vice-Chairman of the Hamlet.

All four previous matches have gone to penalties, with the Hamlet winning the inaugural fixture in the summer of 2018 and two years later, both coming at Hayes Lane. Bromley have also prevailed twice, in 2019 and most recently in 2021, winning 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

The full results of the Memorial Cup games are:

21/7/18 - Bromley 1-1 Dulwich Hamlet (5-6 on pens) - Q.Taylor (OG); Clunis
16/7/19 - Dulwich Hamlet 1-1 Bromley (3-5 on pens) - Mills; Coulson
