The visit of Erith & Belvedere to Champion Hill this weekend marks our final home Saturday friendly before the competitive action begins on Saturday August 12th.

Hakan Hayrettin's side earned their first win of pre-season during the week, with a dominant second half performance over Welling United seeing them come out on top in a 3-1 scoreline. Hakan will no doubt be impressed with the way his side pressed the Wings during the second half, which led to them making defensive errors, from which we ruthlessly capitalised on through goals from Adrian Clifton, a trialist and Luke Wanadio from the penalty spot.

Those that started at Welling on Tuesday will begin on the bench, with the squad that played the final 30 minutes being given the first hour this time around. Craig Braham-Barrett could return to the side having missed Tuesday's win, but Mark Ricketts may still be unavailable.

Our opponents also play their home games at Park View Road, and will be plying their trade in the Isthmian League for just the second season in their history in 2023-24. Last season was a memorable one for Matt Longhurst's side, as they were crowned Premier Division champions of the Southern Counties East Football League, finishing two points clear of Phoenix Sports.

As well as plenty of last season's squad staying, they have recruited some big names as they look to avoid a similar fate to their previous spell in the Isthmian League, relegated after just one season in Division One North in 2013-14. Billy Crook has joined the ranks, the former Hamlet man having impressed in non-league for many years with the likes of Dartford, Chelmsford City and Enfield Town to name just a few. Also signing is veteran forward Chris Dickson, who joined us from the Deres back in 2006. Dickson, capped twice for Ghana, has continued to score goals in the last few years for the likes of Billericay, Hornchurch and Cray Wanderers.

Like the Hamlet, this will be the fifth pre-season outing for the Deres, with a 2-1 victory over Punjab United kicking off their summer schedule, before a 4-0 loss at Whitstable Town, 3-3 draw at our fellow Premier Division side Horsham, and a 4-0 victory at Bearsted on Thursday night.

This will be our first meeting since a pre-season outing at Park View Road seven years ago, when a predominantly youthful Hamlet side strolled to a 5-0 win, with a brace from Omar Koroma being supplemented with strikes from Dereece Thompson, Josh Fernandes and Ricky Davis.

Tickets for the game can be purchased on Fanbase - head to - as well as on the turnstiles. Tickets cost £12 for adults, £5 for concessions and Under 13s are free. Please note there is a small processing fee online.
