The final game of 2019 brought no respite from the threat of relegation as The Hamlet slumped to another defeat in which the same faults were exposed again. Dulwich dominated the opening 20 minutes but found themselves two goals down by the 21st minute as poor defending and missed chances were once again the order of the day. In fact, all four goals were preventable as hesitation and failure to take responsibility once again undermined some positive forward play in the first half. However, the second half saw absolutely nothing positive from a Dulwich perspective as the forwards became isolated and the defenders handed the home side two goals.

Dulwich could have been ahead in just 15 seconds as Vose found Kearney but Lewington sprang to his right to tip the effort for a corner. Ijaha and Chapman both headed wide in the first two minutes before Monakana got in the way of an effort from Mullins, who also saw his block from a Lewington clearance fly away from goal. Mullins also played in Monakana but he tried to find Kearney and the danger was cleared.

Maidstone had not been seen as an attacking force until they took the lead in the 17th minute. Hoyte was free on their right and his cross found McClure whose effort was saved by Edwards but Akanbi thumped in the rebound. Four minutes later The Hamlet found themselves two behind. Edwards saved well from a long range effort but from the resulting corner Chesmain crossed the ball in and McClure had the freedom of the penalty area to fire home.

Dulwich almost pulled a goal back in the 25th minute as Lewington could only flap a corner against Orlu but the ball was hacked off the line. Chapman then headed wide at the far post before Lewington made a triple save from Orlu, all from point blank range.

Edwards then had to make a smart save from McClure to prevent Dulwich falling three goals behind before Dulwich pulled a goal back with almost the final kick of the half. Good play from Monakana and Barnes on the right saw the ball fall to Kearney who thumped his effort past Lewington.

Half Time 2-1

The goals right on half time would usually see a side emerge invigorated for the second half but Dulwich didn't and soon fell two goals behind again. Edwards had already come to Dulwich's rescue when Nathan Smith left a back header short before Temelici crossed from the Dulwich left in the 51st minute and all three defenders missed it to leave Hoyte with a simple finish at the far post.

Akanabi wasted a good chance by shooting wide and Edwards headed straight at his namesake when it seemed easier to score, as Dulwich were continually forced back through giving the ball away. Monakana caused some consternation in the home defence with a couple of inswinging crosses from the left, but the threat of the Dulwich attack in the first half had by now disappeared.

Taylor did well to clear a header from Johnson before another mistake resulted in a fourth goal. Edwards met a cross at the far post that thumped against the bar and fell for Smith to clear. However, he just presented it to Allen to seal the result.

The last nineteen minutes passed without incident as both sides accepted the result was a formality as Dulwich remain in deep trouble have taken only 9 points from the last 45 available.
