Dulwich failed to find a way to be inspired visiting keeper, Dan Wilks, and as a result slipped to a defeat against a resolute Welling United side.
Playing with the strong gusty wind in the first half, Dulwich should have been able to press the visitors back, but just eight minutes in they were behind. A free kick from a central position some 30 yards out was played into the penalty area by Anthony Cook and when it wasn't cleared Romoney Crichlow-Noble pounced to slot past Charlie Grainger.
Dulwich were failing to master the elements but Ben Chapman brought a save from Wilks with a well struck effort from 25 yards and Jeffrey Monakana saw an overhead effort go just wide. However, ex Hamlet player Anthony Cook should have doubled Welling's lead when he fired over after being set up by Bradley Goldberg.
It wasn't until the closing minutes of the half that Dulwich really created any clear chances and ,when they did, they found Wilks unbeatable. First he produced a brilliant save from a Quade Taylor header from six yards out. Next, he made up for a mistake by recovering to keep out an effort from Nyren Clunis.
Half Time 0-1
Despite playing against the wind in the second half, it was The Hamlet who had much the better of the scoring chances but their finishing was wayward. Shamir Mullings wasted a good chance in the 51st minute and both he and Monakana failed to seize on a ball to the far post just past the hour.
For the most part, Welling looked comfortable defending and Grainger had to save well from Goldberg to prevent a second goal in the 65th minute.
Nyren Clunis wasted a glorious chance fro Dulwich with twenty minutes remaining when he headed straight at Wilks from close range and it wasn't until stoppage time that Wilks was extended again as he tipped over a cross from Connors that got caught on the wind.
Final Score 0-1
