Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 Hemel Hempstead Town

Liam Hickey

Dulwich came from a goal down to secure three valuable points in front of 2376 at Champion Hill..

For the Dulwich team visit here.

The Hamlet came from behind and won it with an 83rd minute goal from Aaron Barnes following Lionel Ainsworth's equaliser. Yet earlier it had seemed like most home games this season as poor defending presented the visitors with a 55th minute lead.

It was Dulwich who began on the front foot with Diogo Barbosa very prominent and it was he who fired just too high after a neat lay off from Dylan Kearney. Barbosa also nearly found Kearney with a through ball but visiting keeper Grimshaw was quick off his line to clear.

However, Dulwich came under increasing pressure and the visitors forced 4 corners in a row that Dulwich did well to defend. A good move then saw Jarvis flick a header that Charlie Grainger fielded comfortably and this was quickly followed by the Dulwich keeper saving low from Kpohomouh. The Dulwich keeper nearly presented Hemel with a 29th minute lead as he made a sloppy clearance but he redeemed himself with a fine save from Dobson's rasping shot from 20 yards.

Dulwich had not been seen as an attacking force for some time, but Lionel Ainsworth saw his volley blocked at the far post after good play down the right and Dominic Vose also saw his left footed effort in the 35th minute deflected for a corner. Nyren Clunis blazed high over the bar before Dulwich had another escape on Half Time.

A corner came in from the Dulwich left that Charlie Grainger missed, but the ball broke off a forward and rolled back into the keeper's arms. The Dulwich keeper also made a smart save right on the whistle to end the half to make sure the teams went in level at the break.

Half Time 0-0

The second half was slow to build and there were no real chances until the 53rd minute when Dominic Vose played the ball over the top to Dylan Kearney, but he was denied by a good challenge from Kpohomouh. Play quickly switched to the other end and Marvin McCoy blocked an effort from Dobson.

However, Dulwich fell behind in the 55th minute as Richard Orlu failed to clear from a corner and Essam's effort deflected to Jarvis who scrambled the ball across the line and leave Dulwich temporarily just one place off the bottom of the league.

The Hamlet made a couple of substitutions in the 66th minute and immediately came up with an equaliser. Nathan Smith crossed from the left to Dylan Kearney who deflected the ball on to Lionel Ainsworth and he fired The Hamlet level.

Hemel Hempstead came straight back and Essam headed too high but it was Dulwich who increasingly looked the more likely winners. Dylan Kearney had an audacious effort that sailed just wide, although the dangerous Dobson also had Charlie Grainger scrambling with an effort that flew wide.

However, it was Dulwich who grabbed the winner in the 83rd minute who tried to get his shot away. He was crowded out but the ball fell to Diogo Barbosa whose effort was blocked, but Aaron Barnes was on hand to scramble the ball home from close range.

Dulwich seemed to be seeing out the game comfortably until the final of four minutes stoppage time, when Barnes body checked Midson on the edge of the penalty area. Thankfully, the wall blocked Dobson's effort and the ball was scrambled away, before the referee's whistle brought an end to the game with Dulwich in 16th place.

Final Score 2-1
