Oxford City 1-0 Dulwich Hamlet

Liam Hickey

Dulwich's recent unbeaten run came to an end as they were beaten by ten man Oxford City,

For the line-ups visit here.

Gavin Rose made a few changes from his recent starting XI with Sandro Embalo, Tyrique Hyde and Jordan Higgs returning, Danny Mills, Ruben Sammut and Gio McGregor getting a rest on the bench after Tuesday's win.

The first half was intriguing rather than exciting, with the home side doing most of the attacking and Charlie Garinger being the busier keeper without having to pull off anything beyond routine saves. In fact, Grainger had to overcome an injury sustained very early in the game as Bradbury caught the keeper on the back as he took a bouncing ball.

Dulwich gave away a 12th minute corner that thankfully came to nothing, but it seemed that the home side would take a 20th minute lead as Drewe was sent through on goal, but Sanchez Ming came across from left back to produce a brilliantly timed challenge that won the ball cleanly to thwart the danger.

The Hamlet mounted some sustained pressure from a 25th minute corner but having moved the ball well the final header from Deon Moore drifted harmlessly wide. The home side were soon back on the attack and Grainger saved well from a low Benyon effort, whilst the Dulwich keeper was again in action a couple of minutes later as he pushed out a longer range effort. He then saved low to his right after the ball was given away on halfway.

Tyrique Hyde had a brief sight of goal following a corner but he fired too high and Fleet saw his effort scrambled away for the home side., whilst the referee created a chance as he got in the way of Jordan Higgs in midfield.

As the half came to a close the home side exerted some pressure that fortunately was met with good defending and the visitors comfortably held the home side at bay.

Half Time 0-0

Dulwich were slow out of the blocks in the second half and the home side could have taken a 57th minute lead but Benyon steered Hall's cross wide. However, it came as little surprise when some sloppy defending resulted in the home side taking a 60th minute lead. The ball was given away on the Dulwich right and when the cross came in Benyon left it for Drewe to arrive and thump past Grainger.

Almost immediately Dulwich were presented with a way back into the game as Gerring received a straight red card for a tackle from behind on Allassani, but they took a long time to begin to make that advantage count despite a raft of attacking substitutions. When they did find a way through they found Dudzinski in good form or suffered from wasteful finishing.

The home keeper made a brilliant save to his right from a 68th minute header by Mills but it took until the 87th minute for Dulwich to test the keeper again, this time he got down well to keep out Korrey Henry's effort and it was scrambled away off the line. As Dulwich pressure grew Danny Mills headed wide when well placed and Dudzinski thwarted him again, but the concerted pressure was too little too late to resue anything from the game.
