Ryman League - Premier Division
Cray Wanderers 0 Dulwich Hamlet 6
The following Saturday, we recorded a handsome 6-0 victory away to bottom-of-the-table Cray Wanderers. Erhun Öztümer led the way with his second hat-trick of the season to reach a half-century of goals for the club, but there was a downside too as Phil Wilson sustained a shoulder injury which forced us to play without a 'recognised' keeper for the entire second-half. We started the game well and had already gone close on three occasions before we took the lead in the 12th minute. Erhun Öztümer wriggled free in the box and laid the ball back to Nyren Clunis whose low shot took a wicked deflection and wrong-footed ‘keeper Charlie Himbury. Cray nearly equalised on 19 minutes when, following a corner, Tom O’Connor headed against the post. We took full advantage of this let-off just a minute later when Nyren Clunis burst down the right and crossed to Erhun Öztümer who sidestepped a defender and drove neatly past Himbury to make it 2-0. With Phil Wilson unable to continue, Lewis Gonsalves took over in goal at half-time, but the home side failed to trouble our stand-in ‘keeper and we went on to score another four times to improve our goal difference. Nyren Clunis hit the post with a low drive on 47 minutes, but three minutes later he was brought down in the box and Erhun Öztümer despatched the resultant penalty. Goal number four arrived on 65 minutes when Himbury missed a high cross from Ellis Green and, under pressure from Marc-Anthony Okoye, Cray’s Josh Oyinsan knocked the ball into his own net. Erhun Öztümer completed his hat trick six minutes later, netting direct from a 25-yard free-kick which curled over the ‘keeper and into the top corner. Then, in the 75th minute, Kershaney Samuels got into the act, collecting a neat pass from Erhun Öztümer and driving low past Himbury to round off the scoring. We might have had another goal in the closing stages, but Erhun Öztümer blazed his shot over the bar after Ellis Green had created the opening.
