Dunfermline S2s overcome Biggar

Dunfermline S2's recorded their first win of the second half of the season with a spirited performance in poor underfoot conditions.
Despite Dunfermline scoring freely in the opening exchanges, with our opponents taking a bit of time to adapt to the challenging conditions, Biggar gave us a good contest overall. This is an improved side from the team we played last year in the old Green Conference, and with a good coaching set up and an enthusiastic bunch of boys, we look forward to seeing them make further strides when we play them again later in the season.
Biggar opted to receive the kick off, initially forcing us to defend. However our defensive formation and linespeed was good, forcing the turnover which led to the opening try. Thereafter in the first half we showed good composure in contact, and the combinaton of quick ball and some excellent handling in the conditions, allowed us to score some very well taken tries.
Biggar came back very well after half time, varying their attack nicely between good handling moves and very effective crash balls. The result was a couple of well taken tries, one in particular coming after many phases.
An injury to one of the Biggar players saw Gregor take to the field for the visitors, who helped Biggar to maintain their impetus, scoring another try. Dunfermline, however, finished the match the stronger team, with a late pair of tries.

A good performance overall, with our boys working hard on the team's development areas. Our work in contact was good, in defence we worked hard to get into the right defensive formations and went up with good linespeed, and our attack showed good ambition throughout the game.
A big welcome to Ruaridh who played his first game for Dunfermline today, an excellent start.
