Dunfermline made to work against a much improved Biggar
Dunfermline S2s played a much improved Biggar team in a keenly contested match at Hartree Mill.
Early scores from Andrew and Gregor were followed by a long period where Biggar were dominant, and forced Dunfermline to defend. Eventually their right winger got the ball in just enough space to outstrip the covering defenders to score.
Dunfermline finished the half strongly, with a prolonged attack, effective rucking and a simple handling move to give Kian space to score under the posts.
Half Time: Biggar 4 - 10 Dunfermline
The second half began with an attack from Biggar, with Dunfermline failing to take their chances to break out, and some weak tackling saw Biggar score with a drive up the middle. Dunfermline replied with some good passing, finished by a mazy run from Duncan, beating several defenders to score under the posts.
But our good play was matched straight away with some sloppiness from the restart. This put us under more pressure, resulting in an attacking scrum and a score down the blindside for Biggar.
From the restart Andrew kicked deep - a good tactic as Dunfermline managed to turn Dunfermline over and score through Finlee down the left.
Frustratingly, we again failed to deal with their restart and more weak tackling saw them score in the right corner - some aspects to work on. However, Dunfermline saved their best play until last. From an attacking scrum on the left flank, Dunfermline worked a sweeping move and Gregor, now playing at full back, came into the line to finish the move.
Full time: Biggar 14 - 20 Dunfermline
