Dunvant CC beat Ynystawe
By Jonathan Arnold
The top of the table clash was won by Dunvant who stretch their lead
There was a change of skipper for Dunvant this Saturday as Simon John was unavailable and in came Lee Tucker. This resulted in having no difference in the ability to win the toss. Lee lost again and Dunvant were asked to field.
Although there was some tight opening bowling from Ryan Howell and Rob John, the Ynystawe openers coped well and started to build a score. Some solid batting and good running took the away side to 76 for no loss at the 20 overs drinks break. Then Steve Dixon bowled a sharp delivery that was caught behind by wicket keeper Ceri Phillips. Ynystawe seemingly unphased took the score on to 98 for 1 from 27 overs. Then sixth change bowler Jonny Welch stepped up to bowl, his first of 5 wickets was helped by a fantastic catch from Rob John and took out the number 3 batsman. When Rob John bowled Ynystawe's opener off his legs the wickets started to tumble. The next 8 wickets fell for only 8 runs and Ynystawe managed 106 all out off 36 overs.
Some solid opening batting from Michael Arnold and Ralph Richards saw Dunvant eat into the Ynystawe score. With Ralph out caught for 30 it was Gareth John who came in to help Michael reach the target and win the game.
Next week is a break from the league and Dunvant Host a fun 6 a side cricket tournament. See the site for details
