The funeral arrangements for Fergus King MBE have now been confirmed for Wednesday 12 August.

Originally planned for 15 August, we have accelerated our plans for opening because the funeral arrangements for Fergus King MBE have now been confirmed for Wednesday 12 August. Due to current restrictions the internment will be private and attendees at the invitation of the family. The cortege will travel from his home in Willington to our club, and will arrive there at 10.30am.

It is the wish of the family that the road to the club (Green Lane) is lined with friends wearing their club ties and blazers if possible, and that they walk behind the car as it makes its way to the club, to stop pitchside at Hollow Drift. There will be two songs, a poem and Fergus will then leave to a minute of applause. We are mindful that space along the lane is limited; those coming to pay their respects to Fergie will be very welcome to come directly to the club to join the cortege pitchside where there is ample space to maintain social distancing.

Our clubhouse will be open immediately afterwards, and Fergus' wife, Diane, and family will be joining us from 12pm following his internment.

At an appropriate time in the future it is the intention of the family to support a series of events dedicated to Fergus, and have asked that donations in lieu of flowers be made to various rugby causes via this donations page.
