Marske looked in control in the first half with goals from James Sayer and Danny Boyle
making it two goals to nil to the Seasiders. A red card for Marske’s Lucas Casson 15
minutes into the second half changed the flow of the game and the Colliers took advantage
levelling the score through Josh Barnett and Liam Wright.
Easington’s manager Olly Hotchkiss made two changes from the midweek victory over North
Shields with Barnett and James Fairley replaced by Garon Garside and Brad Hird.
The first chance of the game fell to Marske when the ball ricocheted to Brad Mills who fired
the ball wide of the post just after the 15 th minute mark.
In the 20 th minute, Easington had their first chance of the game when Hird made a great run
into the penalty area and squared the ball to Brad Chisholm who saw his effort saved by
Oliver Swan in the Marske net.
Three minutes later, Marske took the lead when James Hopkinson failed to anticipate the
flight of the ball, dropping it into the path of Sayer who bundled the ball into the net.
Just before the half hour mark, Joshua Duffield made a late challenge on Dane Eltringham
resulting in a yellow card. After the booking, Duffield seemed to lash out at the injured
Eltringham but received no further punishment.
In the 41 st minute, Marske doubled their lead when Boyle cut in from the right-hand side and
drove into the penalty area before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Hopkinson made a great save at the edge on his penalty area after Sayer broke through the
defence resulting in a one-on-one scenario with two minutes left of the first half.
After a slow performance, the Colliers came out in the second half revitalised similar to the
Newcastle Benfield came. Just a minute after the restart, Ryan Taylor saw an effort go just
wide of the top left-hand corner but succeeded in hyping up the travelling Green Army.
56 minutes into the game, Marske went down to 10 men after Casson was sent off following
an altercation with Eltringham.
Two minutes later, an Eltringham corner caused Swan to fumble the ball into the path of
substitute Barnett who made no mistake in converting the chance pulling a goal back for the
Colliers.
Swan made up for his mistake after making a great save from Chisholm’s strike before
substitute Brad Foster saw his effort go just wide in the 63 rd minute.
In the 71 st minute, Easington levelled the game after substitute Liam Wright was on the end
of a Chisholm cross, keeping his composure before drilling his effort past the keeper.
Credit to Chisolm who showed a great turn of pace down the left hand side before providing
a quality cross for Wright.
Two chances in quick succession for the Colliers with the first coming from Taylor whose
strike from just inside the box forced a good save from Swan.
The second fell to first scorer Barnett after he rose the highest from another Eltringham
corner but saw his effort go just over the bar with 10 minutes of normal time remaining.
The final chance in the game came in the 84 th minute when Luke Pearn drove up the pitch
but hit his effort over the bar.
