The Colliers broke the deadlock when Liam Adamson’s deflected effort found its way past the keeper. After the restart, Carlisle equalised through Callum Birdsall before Easington retook the lead through new signing Aiden Stanton.
A mistake from keeper Keaton Marrs allowed Jordan Palmer to pinch the ball off him before placing it in an empty net for the equaliser. In the 84th minute Jordan Holt fired the home side in front for the first time in the match before substitute (and manager) Dirk Kirkup headed in Carlisle’s fourth and final goal of the game.
Easington’s manager Olly Hotchkiss made five changes, from their four-one defeat away to Guisborough after last Saturday’s game at home to Crook Town was called off.
Andrew Nelson, Craig Hennis, Thomas Bott, Liam Wright and new signing Aiden Stanton replaced Jack Naylor, Reece Kenney, Dom Agnew, Denny Tapping and Brad Hird in the starting 11.
The game was in doubt throughout the morning due to inclement weather, however after a second pitch inspection, the referee deemed it playable.
Just before the 15-minute mark, Andrew Nelson made a great clearance off the line to keep the scores at nil-nil.
It was 18 minutes into the game when Liam Adamson’s deflected effort found its way under Thomas Randall to put the away side in front.
Adamson was again involved in the action after his shot from just outside the penalty area went narrowly wide of the post in the 28th minute. Andrew Nelson brought out some great footwork in the build up of this attack.
In the 38th minute, Carlisle had their first clear chance of the game. Thomas Malone broke through the defence and had a strike ricochet off the post.
Five minutes after the restart, Liam Wright’s strike was deflected onto the crossbar from inside the penalty area.
The home side got back into the game 10 minutes later. Callum Birdsall’s strike curled into the top right corner from just outside the penalty area, leaving Keaton Marrs stranded in the Easington net.
In the 73rd minute, Easington’s new boy Aiden Stanton was on the end of a pinpoint Adamson cross and headed the Colliers in front.
Six minutes later, a mistake from Marrs allowed Jordan Palmer to pinch the ball off him and roll it into an empty net, levelling the scores for Carlisle.
After Carlisle had a goal ruled out for offside, Jordan Holt put the home side in front for the first time in the match. In the 84th minute, Holt found himself on the edge of the penalty area before striking the ball into the right-hand side of the net on the turn.
In the final minute of normal time, Carlisle’s manager Dirk Kirkup was left unmarked in the box and headed in his side’s fourth, wrapping up the game for the Cumbrians.
