Lewes and Eastbourne both full of youth and excitement, looked to play the game in the right way with fast paced attacks and good handling. Which is far removed from a lot of the opposition Eastbourne often face in Sussex 1.
Eastbourne got the roll of the dice in the first half against the elements and managed to go into the break with a well worked team try and a penalty to lead Lewes 10-7.

With the elements now in Eastbourne’s favour and the superior scrum and lineout causing Lewes more issues. Eastbourne Got plenty of chances to demonstrate the level of fitness and handling they have maintained over Christmas, with great training sessions and good commitment from the whole squad. With a well managed game from the leadership group, along with a fit and fast approach from the whole team. Eastbourne finally ran out with a convincing 34 - 7 win.

Considering Eastbourne made four changes due to covid after training on Thursday and had people out of position. This was a great example of the 15 man, running rugby brand, the coaching team has slowly been implementing throughout the Season. Still A long was from the finished article, this did leave a smile on the big park avenues crowds faces. Eastbourne finished the game with seven 19 year olds on the pitch. Who looked like they could do it all over again.

Convincing wins for the 1st XV and Nomads (2nd XV) to start the year! Happy new year indeed.
