Wednesday 15th May saw the return of the Mculloch Cup group stage to Torrance House where East Kilbride were against a travelling Stenhousemuir side.
Stenhousemuir won the toss and elected to bat first. Opening bowlers Umair Khan and Stewart Kampman got EK off to a great start. Umair picking up the wicket of Y. Valli (the Stenhousemuir overseas professional) with Gavin Meikle taking a sharp catch behind the stumps.
The spinners continued the pressure with H. Muthair picking up his first wicket of the game in his initial spell. Youngsters Cameron Pietersen and Gaurav Rajmohan bowled in tandem to continue to limit the Stenhousemuir side. Cameron picked up a wicket on his first-team debut - continuing his run of form in the second team.
Veteran Moneeb Iqbal bowled a wonderful spell to tie things off with figures of 3-0-6-2. H Muthair picked up a further two wickets in the final over. Stenhousemuir reached a low total of 74-8 from 20 overs.
I Mughal kicked things off in the EK innings in usual fashion with 3 6s in the first over. Mughal, eventually falling for 27 led to Asad Izaz (23*) and Qasim Sheikh (21*) cleaning things up and chasing the total down with 9 overs to spare. A very simple chase.
A wonderful performance from all the bowlers led EKCC to a straight forward win against Stenhousemuir.
