Steel and Anderson commit to another Season!

We are delighted to announce our Head Coach Allan Steel & Forwards Coach Rian Anderson have committed to another season guiding our promising senior squad.

Club President Bruce Beggans said “It’s fantastic to have Allan & Rian commit to coaching the senior squad again for what will be an exciting season again. It is great for the Club to have the continuity to build on from last season's West Shield success to achieve their goal of return to the SRU National Leagues. The Shield Final was a great highlight but I know Allan was disappointed not to have a crack at the National Shield and League. The Committee want to make sure we put things in place to help Allan Steel and our senior squad to achieve the Club goals on the pitch and we are actively looking to add to our set up with our current advertised vacancy for a Backs coach. Allan & Rian have been tremendous for the Club over the years and we are really looking forward to working with them again this season.”

Allan has brought a degree of stability and consistency to the squad in his time in charge, he said “I’m looking forward to taking charge again for another year, the other coaches we have in place and a new backs coach hopefully coming in should add that extra little bit for us to push on. I’m looking forward to getting going again whenever it is safe to do so.

Reflecting on last term he said “It was nice we got a wee taste of a trophy in the West Shield but it was a shame for the boys that we didn’t get to go to the bigger final.
In the league, I’d say it was still there for us. We still had all the big teams to play, some a couple of times, so I think it was very open and would have been a good contest!
I’m proud of the boys and how they went about their business, they’re a good young side with the potential to win things and we got a snippet of that last season” he added.

The players are still keeping themselves busy to keep their bodies ticking over until such times as they can all return to the field.

“I’m quite impressed with all the guys and their fitness, they’ve still been working hard on that. The guys know we’ve got a team capable of winning things, so we are trying to stay fit so that when we do get back, we are fully ready for it!”

The EKRFC Committee hope you will all get behind Allan & the team again as we push for more success on the pitch this season. #oneclub #blackandyellow
