Dear Member or Parent,
It is with regret that I am obliged to announce that on Monday 15th July, John (Geordie) Weatherall contacted me to announce his intention to resign from the office of Chairperson at Eastleigh RFC’s Mini and Junior Section. In his communication John expressed his regret at having to step down, but felt that in all good consciousness, he could not dedicate the time and commitment to ERFC that the club deserved due to work and family commitments. John also recognised that it was too short notice to replace him at the AGM, so he has agreed to continue until we have elected a replacement.
At last night’s AGM, we reviewed the club constitution and it was agreed that a Special General Meeting (SGM) will be held to ensure we have fairly advertised the vacancy and ensure that anyone who was unable to attend last night, has the opportunity to put their name forward for consideration.
As many of you know Caroline Clark, our Vice Chair, has stepped down from her role to pursue a role within Hampshire RFU but last night agreed to remain until the SGM. As the roles of the executive committee were predominantly unfilled it was agreed that the 3 executive committee roles would be elected by vote (Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary) at the SGM.
To this end, please find attached the Role descriptions and it has been agreed that anyone wishing to nominate themselves for a role on the executive committee, should email to express their interest by midday on 16th August 2019. We ask that they include a personal statement, which encompasses their reasons for nominating themselves, what skills and experience they will bring to the role and their vision for the future of the club. The personal statements should not be more than 250 words and will then be circulated to all members prior to the vote.
If more than 1 candidate stands for a role, we will hold a blind vote at the SGM which will take place at the Hub, on 1st September 2019 at 10 AM.
We would like to encourage as many members as possible to attend the SGM and so we want to take this opportunity to confirm the definition of a member from our club constitution:
“3.2 There shall be three classes of membership available. These are:
3.2.1 Full Member (players over 18 years of age)
3.2.2 Junior Member – Non voting – (players under 18 years of age)
3.2.3 Associate Member – Full voting rights (parents/guardians of players under 18 years of age)”
Please note that the above does not allow for players under the age of 18 to vote or act as a proxy.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Geordie on behalf of all our ERFC members for all that he has done in his time as Chair and we look forward to seeing him around the clubhouse in the future.
Nominations must be sent to email@example.com by midday on the 16th August.
The kitchen will be open from 9am so you can get a coffee and bacon roll before hand.
If anyone has any questions or concerns that they would like to raise please contact me,
