EP progressed into the quarter final of the Sussex Senior Cup after beating Chichester City 1-0. The winning goal was scored by Dan Huet on 16 minutes and his neat finish was enough to take EP into the next round.
The home side thoroughly deserved their win and had a number of other chances but Chichester keeper Jordan Matthews kept his side in the tie with some great saves.
Asa Nicholson went close midday way through the first half but Matthews saved with his feet, Lucas Pattenden had a shot saved just before half time. The best save came on 63 minutes following excellent approach play by EP saw a cross from Luke Brodie headed goalwards by Pattenden only for Matthews to somehow save when it looked like he was beaten.
Manager Bob Paine said 'We were excellent tonight and executed our game plan perfectly and were worthy winners and if not for their keeper could have easily won by more. We worked very hard and defended so well as a team. To reach the quarter final of this competition is an fantastic achievement for us considering the limited resources we have.'
