The 2XV made the short journey to Stewart’s Melville on Saturday. Having lost a few games on the hop, the boys were keen to change these narrow losses to some wins.
A real show of intent saw the boys out early and running through their moves in advance of Stew Mel taking to the field.
Stew Mel had put 83 points past RHC 2XV the week before, we knew the warm up and disciplined approach were key.
Stew Mel emerged with a young and fit team, most likely a result of their 2XV fixture being cancelled.
Very quickly Stew Mel got off to scoring ways and had their bonus point within the first 30 minutes.
Northern hustled well in the second half and despite numerous injuries and a depleted squad, really upped the intensity and managed to cross the line twice.
Stew Mel’s vastly over qualified coach (Fin Calder) offered some words of consolation as we walked off 53-12 down at the whistle.
The game had brought the most physicality and energy they had faced all season.
A score line that doesn’t reflect the effort from the boys.
The squad have pulled close together and are set to face Forrester 2XV away which we know from past could go either way.
