Edwardian Community will coach over 750 children this Summer as we team up with SSP to deliver a region wide Year 6 Tag Rugby programme.
Having missed out on delivering to the children of Solihull last Summer due to the Covid-19 pandemic and with a stop/start programme throughout 2020/21, it’s great to finally be back in schools and being able to plan and delivery a full programme.
During the Summer term Edwardian FC Community will support Solihull Sports Partnership in the delivery of their tag programme to schools across the Solihull borough. This is a great opportunity to help introduce and develop rugby skills to the boroughs children whilst spreading the name of Edwardian FC to the wider community.
Programme Lead, Chris Shipway said; “I’m delighted we have been asked again to support SSP in the delivery of this rugby programme. We have more schools this year which I think is testament to the work going on at the club and the increasing reach to the wider community. Since the inception of the Community programme in 2019 we have delivered rugby sessions to over 800 children and this new programme of delivery will take us well in excess of 1500 children coached by Ed’s Rugby, which I think is a huge achievement”
Coaching children in schools has created a new pathway for children to transition from school to club rugby over the past few seasons and even with the Covid impact numbers continue to grow which is great to see on a Sunday morning.
