We have decided to change the club name to Edwardstone and Boxford Cricket Club
Following a difficult 2023 season the club had to regroup and after an EGM in September, players and members came to the meeting with positive views and new ideas to keep our club going and attract more players to our friendly and sociable team.
We have decided to change the club name to Edwardstone and Boxford Cricket Club. This more accurately reflects our club. We started in Edwardstone playing opposite the church! Yes on that bumpy, sloping field, however eventually we moved to Boxford and for nearly 40 years now we have been playing at Homefield with a great number of our players coming from the village.
As part of the cricket club’s new beginning, we would like to invite anyone who would like to play some cricket to contact us!!!! We need experienced and inexperienced players to add to the mix of our cricketers. Last year we once again gave a young player his first start in the senior team after starting cricket in our Junior section!
You do not need to be Ben Stokes to play in our team…..you would make the rest of us look very bad indeed. Enthusiasm and a good team spirit is what is required.
We will be playing on Sundays in Division 2 of the Hunts County League in 2024. The fixture list will be confirmed very soon.
If you would like to get some practice in, we are planning to run some nets sessions in the coming months, details can be found at www.edwardstoneandboxfordcc.com.
You can get any details about the club on our website by going to the Contact Us section. Our new player contact is Sam Whymark who is also this year’s captain
