Weather doesn't dampen the spirit on a fantastic occasion.

On Sunday the 23rd September 2012, Middlesex was treated to the sight of some genuine Abbey heavyweights (in some cases quite literally!) turn out in the John Risk Memorial Match, held at Old Isleworthians Sports Club. It proved a rare occasion to see some Abbey 'legends' pull on a kit other than the famous black and white, and there could be few more fitting occasions.

David Risk captained 'The Risks' versus 'The Rest' to a comprehensive 8-1 victory in rainy conditions. Names on the score sheet you may recognise included Dave himself, James Tindall and Russell Gray. Stuart Margetts was excellent in goal when called upon, and there was also appearances from Paul Shorter and the gaff himself, Richard Margetts.

The game raised over £3500 for the Barnardo's charity, the charity of choice for John when he ran the London marathon. For more details see John's giving page at the following link:

The players, staff and fans of Abbey who attended would like to thank the Risk family for a memorable day.
