Ellerslie Development Team make a good start

The Ellerslie Development Team were fortunate to be able to make their debut on a warm Sunday afternoon at Caythorpe after all senior cricket in the County was washed-out on Saturday. After winning the toss our Ellerslie skipper Jack Webb elected to bowl first and his decision proved to be a good one with a strong fielding and bowling performance from the Ells. Caythorpe were knocked over for 87 runs in 29 overs with our young spinners Matthew Cawley, Aman Chahal and Mihir Patel creating too many problems for the batsmen. Our young seamers Finlay Traynor and Ethan Scott were also in the wickets. Ellerslie were strong in the field with a couple of run-outs and our under 13 wicket keeper Sasmeet Satyam was excellent behind the stumps.

Following the the break our batsmen managed to work their way to the winning total off 19 overs; a special mention must be made of Ed Gray, who turned in a classy batting and fielding performance on his Ellerslie debut making 25 stylish runs before retiring. Youngsters Sasmeet and Mihir showed their quality while chasing the total and ensured that the Ells Development team came out on top.

The game was played in a great spirit and special thanks go to our senior players 'Webbo', Finlay Hulbert, Adam Newell and Ed Gray for being so encouraging and supportive of the youngsters. Thanks too to our Umpire, Andy Hulbert and our scoring team of Mick Cawley, Arthur Gray and Preeti Patel.
It was great to see so many of the Ells family coming to show their support including our first team Skipper and our Director of Cricket.
