Skip Trev Foreman won the toss and elected to bat on a slow Easton wicket. 22 runs off 4 overs was a rollicking start between young Zac Mitchell, playing his first home match of the season, and Trev Foreman but when Zac departed for 7 the runs dried up as the Sparsholt opening bowlers found their radar.
Easton progressed to 30 off 10 overs and 94 for 3 off 30 overs with good contributions from Hugo Andreae ( 33 with 5 well struck fours ), Rupert Brow ( 27) and Trev Foreman ( 19 ). A surge of 63 runs in the last 12 overs was largely due to an excellent 22 by Will Sykes and 19 by Dave Ling with Easton ending up with 157 for the loss of 6 wickets.
It was very important for Easton to apply pressure on the Sparsholt batters from the off and excellent spells from youngsters Ethan Brackstone and Ollie Freemantle restricted Sparsholt to 31 off 12 overs. Another highlight in the first 12 overs was a spectacular run out by young Zac Mitchell. Zac who took over from Ollie Freemantle , bowling with good pace and control and ended up with 2 for 26 off 7 overs. Evergreen Trev Yeates took another 4 for ( this time for a miserly 19 runs off 10 overs ) and Ben Stanbrough and Trevor Compton brought the innings to a close with 2 for 15 and 1 for 13 respectively.
Easton earned 22 points with Sparsholt getting 6-the match was played in a terrific spirit with the efforts of the colts on both sides being applauded on a regular basis.
