EWW 2's were away to Bishop Waltham 3's for their last game of the season.
U15 Will Wickham made his debut for Easton and Adrian Lee helped out after a successful season with the thirds.
Skip Foreman won the toss and elected to bowl on a very pacy artificial track being mindful of the need to secure 4 points for promotion.
What followed was 'one of the best first quarters in a match' that he has had to pleasure to be involved in for at least a decade!
Ed Wylde and Arthur Lee opened the bowling with great pace and determination and soon had the opposition batters playing and missing. They were replaced by Trev Forerman and Ollie Freemantle who maintained the excellent bowling by the openers.
A feature of the truncated match was the excellent catching with 5 superb catches being taken by young wicket keeper Will Wickham and two high velocity snorters by Dave Ling in the gully and Ben Stanbrough at first slip. Ed Wylde took a great catch on the fine leg boundary and another one in the covers.
After 21 overs Bishop Waltham were 45 for 5 with Ed taking 1 for 29 off 10 overs, Arthur 2 for 8 off 6 overs, Trev 1 for 9 and Ollie 1 for 3.
...and then the rain started in earnest and the artificial wicket became very slippery leading to an early tea and the abandonment of the match. Eastons held on to their 6th position in the table thereby securing promotion to R2 next season.
