Young guns to the fore!

Skip Foreman lost the toss and Easton was inserted by skipper Glass. Dave Ling and Trevor Foreman opened for Easton and took the score to 56 off 17 overs when Dave was caught for a hard hit 38 ( 7 fours ) . This soon became 70 for 3 as Easton lost Martin Hall and Ben Stanbrough. Trevor was stumped for 23 and Angus Macloud was caught for 4 in an effort to accelerate the score leaving Easton 94 for 5 off 33 overs.

Paul Sanders and debutant under 13 colt Joe Lewis then put together a pivotal partnership of 35 with Paul not out in a well crated 39 ( 5 fours ) and young Joe playing the shots of the match in scoring 18 ( with 3 magnificent pulls for 4 ). Gareth Goodall chipped in with 2 and Easton finished up on 138 for 6 at the end of their 42 overs. Andy Gould bowled a fantastic spell for Overton finishing up with figures of 10-4-7-3!

The father and son combo of Pete and 16 year old off-spinner, Tom Duff, opened the bowling for Easton and they soon had Overton 15 for 3 off 5 overs. Pete’s final figures were 7-1-29-1 with the valuable scalp of the dangerous Tony Glass and Tom, turning the ball magnificently, returned well- deserved figures of 10-1-26-3.

Matt Brown and Aaron Brown took Overton to 57 off 16 overs when Matt was bowled by a beauty from Ben Stanbrough for 32 and Trevor Foreman bowled Aaron Brown for 25 leaving Overton 81 for 6 off 22 overs.

Alex Britton (19) and Nick Harrison (16) moved the score to 111 for 6 off 30 overs which soon became 113 for 9 with Ben producing another beauty to bowl Jack Dunsby and Trevor bowling Kevin Silverwood & Nick Harrison. Alex Britton’s defiant innings ended when he was bowled by Trevor and Easton secured a great win by 24 runs earning 21 points to Overton’s 6.

Ben Stanbrough’s figures were 8-0-22-2 and Trevor Foreman’s 8.1-1-15-4.

The man of the match pink cap went to young Joe Lewis for his valuable contribution with the bat, including the best shots of the day, and his excellent fielding.
