Barton got off to a great start, scoring in the first minute to take the lead. Then Enfield took control of the game and, after 14 minutes, the pressure finally paid off as Freddy Moncur equalised for the E’s. The E’s continued to attack the Barton defence, creating numerous chances. Enfield were awarded a penalty after a foul in the 17th minute. Samir Ali stepped up to take the kick and his shot hit the back of the net, putting the E’s in front. Enfield continued to attack but could not increase their lead. Barton grabbed a second goal in the 35th minute to draw level.

Half-time: 2–2.

The second half was more even, with both teams creating chances. In the 77th minute, Barton took the lead at 3–2. Seven minutes later, Enfield were awarded their second penalty of the afternoon, but Matt Boylan saved Braithwaite’s kick.
