"There are quite a few of you," said the Enfield Council spokeswoman at the second session of the 100 Hours Volunteer Awards which took place at the Civic Centre on Monday (Oct 20) She was, of course, referring to Enfield Ignatians which had the largest representation (39) at the ceremony.

Youth chairman Harold Pritchard said: "It went really and it was a great and rare way of recognising the sterling efforts of those which make our club a big success."

Designed to acknowledge and reward the outstanding contribution of the volunteers - and the borough has around 700 organisations which depend on people giving up their free time - Ignatians were certainly in very good company.

However, it would be a mistake just to think that the Ignatians' awards revolved solely around the huge successes of the Big Day Out on March 1 and the Tour de Dodo charity fundraiser in July, as the efforts of its coaches, fund raisers, first aiders plus those that man the club shop and the kitchen every week, were also recognised.

The majority of the club's award winners made it to the Civic Centre where they were individually presented with a certificate, as well as having their photo taken with the Mayor Cllr Ali Bakir, and the Cabinet Member for Community Organisations, Cllr Yasemin Brett.

A big thank you to Pete Doherty for his help in putting us forward. Please note that that those unable to attend will be sent a certificate.

The club award winners were: Brian Davey, Gareth Williams, Kevin Linnane, Nikki Worcester, Harold Pritchard, Emma Renny, Steve Renny, Jeff Barnes, Debbie Barnes, Vernon Loo., Lorraine Colley Farida Foye, Luke Ellis, Hadee Fayaz, Maureen Rutt, Shaun Duke, Richie Clifford, Gary Yardley, Martin Baker, Dave French, Andy McCall, Martin Willis, Steve Crofts, Steve Baldwin, Edmund Essilfie-Quaye, Fiona Essilfie-Quaye, Pete Doherty, Tom Moore, Matt Head, Danielle McCall, Julia McCall, Adam Middle, Christo Kasabi, Jonathan Landi, Andy Sellick, James Hall, Denise Hall, Colin Pennicott and Martin Foye.
