CRY Initiative Scheduled for June 2022

#The Club That Cares

All the Club Members and our families will have been moved by the tragic incident involving Christian Erikson, at the EUROS over the weekend.

For over a year the Club has been aware of the potential of young and physically fit players succumbing to an underlying an undetected heart condition.

The Club in March 2020 was about to launch a major programme which we know would be of benefit to all eligible players between the ages of 14 - 35. The initiative is Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) Screening. If you go to the following link http://www.c-r-y.org.uk you will get an understanding of what we will be doing.

Our private screening was planned to be held on the July 11th and 12th 2020 but is now planned for Saturday and Sunday the 11th and 12th June 2022

Parents of Players in the 14 - 18 age groups will be contacted directly by their individual coach and all senior players between 18 and 35 will be eligible to take part in the screening.

There will also be the possibility of siblings being able to access the programme and this will be included in the information coming out.

At this stage there is no action needed as we will be launching this initiative at the clubhouse in the new year. There will be a separate launch for Parents and Carers of players from 14-18 and for Senior Players at 9pm, when you will be able to ask any questions.

Also, as part of the first aid training for the Club's first aiders, we include competency for CPR and an understanding of the use of our AED (defibrillator)

These initiatives are part of the Club's ongoing commitment of ensuring the health and welfare of all our players.
