Epsom CC autumn indoor cricket league

Round Seven and the top four race tightens up with the Jaguars making it a top five, five points separating second from fifth. The Leopards, led by Luca Murzell, who were in fourth spot, now take a six point lead at the top after a well paced run chase against bottom placed Panthers. The Panthers were close again to pulling off their first win but again gave away too many runs in the middle overs to make the early overs pressure from their bowling tell and are now nine points adrift at the bottom.

In that game the Panthers score was built around 37 runs scored by Nick Jeffery who seemed intent on giving cover and extra cover catching practice and is now nicknamed the cat, not just for athletic ability but also the batting lives he seemed to have. Again the total seemed a little light with no other batsman really troubling the scorer. In reply two not out scores by Luca Murzell (34no) and Harry Castledine (41no) helped the Leopards steer themselves home to the victory with a bit in hand.

In the second match, third placed Wildcats took on the fifth placed Wolverines with the Wolverines prevailing to close to within four points of the Wildcats who moved themselves up to second spot. The game was stop and start for both teams with the Wolverines setting a modest looking 109 for four around scores of 32 not out, and 31 not out, for Sonny Stammers and Jack Underwood. Critically with three catches put down. In reply the Wildcats kept losing wickets, a couple of them unnecessary outs caught to bad shots, shots that shouldn't have been played, and also one a blinding reflex catch by Alex Underwood, one of two catches he took on the night.
