Great Result for the 1's and the Club

Epsom 1xi gained promotion to Division 2 in the Surrey Championship yesterday after winning their game against Old Hamptonians with Old Whits also beating Kingstonians in a last over finish to allow Epsom to leap frog Kingstonians who we lost to last week.

After a fairly comfortable away win with a great team performance, Epsom having bowled Hamptonians out for 155 and knocked them off quite easily with key contribution from TC hitting 50 in 35 balls.

The 1st team were then left to wait as the other crucial game went down to the last over with live updates on Play Cricket freezing in the 2nd to last over. After a tense 30 mins the team and many of the contributors over the season as well as all the other teams celebrated the promotion in style as the result came through on the 2nd to last ball. Some even shed a tear, just showing what this meant over the last 2 years with all the hard work to get us to this position.

Congratulations to Phil and the team for maintaining focus right to the last game to put us in the position to get the promotion. A brilliant result after last years promotion controversy and fully deserved. Now the hard work starts for next year..
