Epsom junior indoor cricket league results

The fifth round, just before the mid term, break saw a calamitous batting collapse, well to be truthful it started so early the batting never got a chance to start, another game that saw wickets tumble in a flurry in one innings and some great leadership in difficult circumstances.

The 'mighty' Wildcats now lead the table just ahead of the unbeaten Wolves who have played one game less. The Panthers are still searching for their first win, but stay off the bottom due to the large number of batting bonus points.

In the first game of the evening the Wolverines set a reasonable score of 82 against the Wolves after being in trouble early on. Jamie Tregoning and Theo Carter both scoring just short of twenty runs each to give them a total to bowl at after Jake Simmons had ripped through their batting with a four wicket spell. After a couple of early wickets rattled the nerves of the Wolves Seb Steiner (32no) and Louis Thornton (19no) steered them home to a five wicket win. A couple of overthrow mishaps by the Wolverines made a huge difference in what otherwise was a good disciplined bowling performance.

In the second game the Panthers, searching for their first win, took on the Wildcats who were looking to grab top spot in the table. After last weeks run glut the Panthers decided to do something different, and got themselves bowled out for 34 (90 runs shy of last of the previous weeks Panthers total). All the bowlers contributed but the stand out being (again) Patrick Moilliet. But in defending their meagre total the Panthers played magnificently as a unit, fielding brilliantly, bowling with great discipline and being very well led by Alfie Haxton. Probably the best teamwork performance of the indoor games so far! Nick Jeffery's bowling was almost too good, (3 overs 2 wickets for 1 run), the Wildcats were forced to scratch and scrabble for every run. Dan Barker played an anchor role in guiding the Wildcats home with 17 unbeaten runs.
