A John Ayres hat-trick along with a brace from both Andy Stratford and Matty Walker and a Stephen Chappel strike comfortably saw off Witney Royals to go top....

First Half:

Eynsham SSC took the lead within two minutes when striker John Ayres chased down a lost ball down the right wing and put a dangerous ball into the box which the Witney Royals player put against his own bar only for it to land at the feet of Andy Stratford for an easy tap-in

This was how it stayed for the next twenty-odd minutes as the visitors came back into the game, creating a couple of half chances and also thought they should have had a penalty when there striker was put through, only for him to get clipped by keeper Lee Gardiner but the striker stayed on his feet and the ref played advantage, the striker was then booked for abusive language towards the referee.

We were then caught out again in the 25th minute, when a ball over the top was chased down by there striker and two of our defenders which thankfully one of our defender just manage to get the ball clear but took out his own player which resulted him having to come off and taking a trip to hospital (luckily nothing damaged just a bad sprain) so we made our first sub bringing on Alex Timms for Max Leach.

We then started to raise our game and in the 28th minute increased our lead when a ball through the middle from Nathan Prestidge found John Ayres through in goal and placed the ball past the keeper.

Five minutes later it was 3-0 when Alex Timms found Matty Walker down the right flank who cut into the box and put past the keeper for his first goal of the season.

During the interval, manager Barry Stratford stated that we needed to start getting the ball on the floor and start moving it around a bit as I thought we were a bit sloppy at times.

The second half started quite even with both teams having half chances but nothing clear cut, but in the 55th minute we got our fourth when quick thinking from Jason Blackman from a throw-in found John Ayres in the box who lifted the ball over the keeper for his second of the game.

Ten minutes later it was 5 when Jonh Ayres found himself in the box squared the ball to Andy Stratford who shot took a slight deflection but found its way into the net for his second of the game.

At this point we made our second change brining on Stephen Chappel for Tom Radburn and in the 70th minute we were six goals up when John Ayres yet again found himself in the box pulled the ball back to the edge of the area to substitute Stephen Chappel who beat the defender and put past the keeper for his first of the season.

In the 75th minute we made our final sub bringing on Ben Partlett for Jason Blackman, we then got our 7th in the 79th minute when a ball through from Andy Stratford found John Ayres who dummied the keeper and put the ball into an empty net for his second hat-trick in consecutive games

There was still time for us to get an 8th when in the 82nd minutes Alex Timms found Matty Walker out wide again and cut in to score his second of the game.

Verdict:

"Great result for us again we played some decent football second half and the goals came I have to thank the four reserves that came in again all did well was pleased for Lee Gardiner who kept a clean sheet, Stephen Chappel who scored when coming on and battled well, Alex Timms had a good game at right-back and made two Assists and Ben Partlett who ran himself into the ground for the 15 minutes he was on for. As a team we are starting to look solid at the back again Ralph Rankin had a decent game, the midfield three looked decent with Andy Stratford getting on the scoresheet but again the outstanding player for us was John Ayres who had three assists and three goals to his name so he is my man of the match again this week. I was informed after the game that with result going our way we find ourselves top of the league, I know it's early days but I have a lot to be proud of with this bunch of lads, we face tough opposition next week which will be a good test for us to see how far we have come".
