Fairlands 24/25 Netball Season

Fairlands 24/25 Netball Season

Ellie Cooke17 Apr - 10:43

End of Season Roundup

What a netball season it’s been! From the very first training session to our final games, the energy, determination, and team spirit displayed across all teams this year has been nothing short of incredible. Week after week, every team brought passion and fight to the court, and it’s been so inspiring to be a part of a club filled with such supportive, driven, and lovely people. Beyond the games, the sense of community within the club has been amazing- whether it was cheering each other on from the sidelines or dancing way too enthusiastically at our socials, we’ve made so many memories that go far beyond the court. It’s been a season of growth, laughter, wins (and a few losses too), and we couldn't be prouder of all we've achieved. Now, it’s time to hear from each of our brilliant team captains with a round-up of their season:

A team
Captain: Emily Owens

“This season has been a really exciting one for the As. We’re confirmed as the winners of the Surrey league, winning promotion! In the Met league, we’re awaiting confirmation but looks like we’ve come a close 3rd with some tough opponents, so another brilliant result.
I think our wins this season have been a big highlight. We’ve fought some very close games to the end for the win which I’m very proud of this team for - particular mention to our away game vs Wimbledon recently which was a great competitive and fun game. However, even with our losses we’ve shown real teamwork and determination and haven’t let our heads go down, which is another testament to this team. Luckily we’re a very versatile team, so we’ve also seen lots of different variations on the court, which has been great to see too, especially with injuries.
One of my highlights has to be our attempts to play during storm Darragh in December - eventually a decision to cancel was made and we treated ourselves to a garden centre coffee instead! The Christmas dinner was also a real highlight, always great to spend time off a netball court and with some lovely food, drinks and presents. Now on to summer league!”

B Team
Captain: Amy White

“A tough season for the B’s this year.
However, the resilience of the team has been incredible throughout, especially with some serious injuries faced early on in the season.
We have pulled enjoyed playing together each week, which has resulted in some fantastic results against top of the league teams.
Very proud and grateful for everyone who has played with us this season.”

C Team
Captains: Daisy Meffan & Steph Flanagan

“The C team have had a season to be proud of: one that highlights improvement, progress and determination. A massive 9 wins from 12 played matches wasn't quite enough to secure promotion in the Surrey League, but the team are so proud that they were able to stay in contention and take the win against every opposition bar one. A huge achievement for our evolving squad!
One of our biggest successes has to be a run of eight wins (with only two losses) after Christmas - combinations really began to gel and we were growing in confidence week on week. Another amazing achievement was our biggest win of 75-11 which came on the 12th October. The C team scored a massive 592 and 514 goals in both leagues (with one match to go), which is testament to our brilliant shooters and all those defensive intercepts!"

"It has been a fantastic season for the C team, with lots of changes to the squad due to injuries the younger players have really stepped up and integrated well into the team. It has been brilliant to see the confidence and standard of the team improve through the season and this was definitely shown in our last match performance where we secured a big win!”

D team
Captain: Libby Thomas

“The D team have had a wonderful season this year filled with great games and great training sessions. The team has come together to win many times including the last game of the season with a convincing win (50-25) against a very capable side! We’ve had to deal with some team changes this season with injuries and players moving teams so a massive thank you to those players from the U18 team who played for us when we needed! Overall an amazing season with great memories for everybody, and we’re hoping to take this into next season!!!”
