Classy Knock From Lyle Sees off Freuchie
Falkland 129 for 4
(L Robertson 78 not out)
Freuchie 65 all out
(S Munro 23, R Jennings 3 for 5, G Langlands 3 for 10, C Hepburn 3 for 17)
Falkland Won by 64 Runs
Falkland defeated Freuchie in the Fife Cup at Falkland on Tuesday night, and now await either Dunnikier or Largo in the final. It was an impressive performance by the home side and showed the depth of talent, particularly young talent, that exists at Scroggie Park these days. Lyle Robertson's 78 not out contained some mighty hits for boundaries but also a great deal of intelligent running between the wickets. When Falkland went in to field, the best performance was that of schoolboy Ryan Jennings who took 3 wickets for 5 runs, and also took 3 catches, one of them a very difficult one. This young man is clearly someone to watch for the future, but the performance of the whole team was very encouraging.
The tournament is played on the basis of 10 Overs of 10 balls, something which speeds things up and seems to be a good idea.
