Here's your July edition of Fawley RFC's Newsletter...

July 2020

I will try where possible to send out a newsletter with updates monthly. If you missed the first, this can be found on the Fawley Pitchero App and website.

We have filled one vacant post thanks to Sam Mayhew, who has taken on the role as food hut coordinator. Look out for more information and new developments coming soon……

Paul and Anne Patrick have stood down and Anne is taking a well-earned rest. Paul just can’t keep away and is remaining as coach co-ordinator and coaching the under 12’s.

Unfortunately, Covid-19 continues to place restrictions on the Club. Social events and training updates will follow as soon as we can return. Fear not, we are busy in the background preparing for the new season and summer training for U13’s and upwards. We will confirm any updates as soon as we can. Please see the link from the RFU which we will be using to help us make the right decisions to keep you and your children safe: https://www.englandrugby.com/home/

Fawley Rugby Club is run by volunteers where people move on and I thank them as I know you will, for all their support and time they have given. There are a few vacancies that still need filling however. I realise we are all busy people but the club needs support from other parents/ guardians from all age groups. We are a friendly group of people with the same interest, enjoying a team sport, seeing your child flourish, developing in their sport and keeping fit and healthy. We are one big happy family.

Junior Club Vacancies- (they are not as scary as they sound, I promise) ☺
1. Safeguarding Officer (Caroline will support you over the 1st year)
2. Team Manager Yr6/7
3. Team Manager Yr8
4. Secretary
5. Vice Chair
6. First Aiders for age groups

Please contact me for further details.

The equipment has been checked and a few more training items have been ordered ready for the start of the season.

It is now the time of the year for club awards, the seniors and volunteers have been nominated. Very shortly the boys and girls will be getting their medals and awards. Your coaches and team managers will be in touch.

Social Events .... The quiz night will go ahead but only when guidelines and restrictions allow us to. Any ideas for future events please contact us. These events will help raise funds to purchase new Team shirts for your children.

The club house plans have been agreed and now the real fund-raising starts. Please support us in the next stage of our adventure. A club house will bring so many positives to the club. If you have any suggestions or know a business that could support the club in raising funds, please contact me. The committee are putting a business plan in place which will help with sponsorship and the future of the build. Following advice and agreement by members we are now moving forward to CASC status. CASC is an organisation which has been granted a special tax status by HMRC, a non-profit making sports club open to the community. The Architect is completing dimensional drawings and we are obtaining a quote for the next phase which is building regulations. Gracelands have provided a quote for soil testing, foundations and utilities. We will be applying for grant/funding applications for the build and the future of the club.

At the beginning of this season there will be a new membership form to sign and information about subs for 2020/2021 and how to make payment.

For the start of the season we are planning on having an example of kit that can be purchased from the web site available for you to see before purchasing online. A great idea for all year round presents. Please see link below. Raging Bull support local clubs and any items purchased help raise club funds. https://www.ragingbullsportswear.com/product-category/fawley-rfc/

At the beginning of the season please bring your child’s shirt along if it needs to be exchanged for a bigger size. If your child has received a new style shirt, please bring the old one back. We need these to pass on to other players. This year we will be working hard to raise funds and purchase new player shirts from Raging Bull for the mini's and junior section.

One last thing I would like to remind you of are the activities available for parents…….
* WALKING RUGBY
* JOIN THE SENIORS TEAM -there is a 1st and 2nd team so please do not be daunted, they are a friendly bunch.

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you next season. I can be contacted by email if you have any questions.

Look out for social events and updates as soon as the guidelines change.

Thanks, take care, see you all soon
