FC Británico picked up a hugely important three points on the road with a composed 2–1 victory away at C.D. Arenal 30, a result that takes the side to the exact halfway point of the season with all teams now having played each other once.
The win strengthens Británico’s position in the top half of the table and leaves the club just three points off second place, firmly in the promotion conversation as the second half of the campaign gets underway.
Británico started brightly and were rewarded early. In the 9th minute, Lukas von der Heide played an excellent ball over the top, perfectly weighted into the path of Sasha Spada. Sasha showed superb control to bring the ball down on his chest before calmly finishing to give the visitors a deserved lead.
The home side responded quickly, equalising just two minutes later. Arenal’s striker latched onto an over-the-top ball on the counter and finished clinically to make it 1–1, briefly halting Británico’s momentum.
Rather than wobble, Británico regained control and continued to ask questions. The decisive moment came just before half-time. With the ball bouncing around inside the box, Lukas again played a key role, poking it through into a dangerous area where Sasha reacted quickest to steer home his second of the afternoon and restore Británico’s advantage.
The second half saw Británico manage the game with maturity and confidence. Defensively solid and organised, they limited Arenal to very little while continuing to create chances at the other end. Adam Bolton, Evan Quinlan, Alex Coates and Calum Cant all went close as Británico threatened to extend the lead, but the two-goal cushion proved unnecessary.
Elsewhere around the top of the table, dropped points for several promotion rivals underlined the importance of Británico’s result, as the gap to the automatic promotion places remains tight heading into the second half of the season.
With the league now at its midpoint and the fixtures set to repeat, Británico head into the run-in well placed, full of confidence and with momentum firmly on their side.
