FC Premier Colts started 2017 as they finished 2016 with a well deserved 4-2 victory on a cold early morning kick off at Kings Hill.
The boys started brightly with Max going close early on with a shot into the side netting. It was then 1-0 when a cross from Ollie was deflected into his own net by a Beacon Lions defender. More good pressure followed with Matty shooting into the side netting from a tight angle and Max shooting over the bar. The Colts then had to do some defending with Marley, Sami and Manraj making some good interceptions and blocks. Ollie and Rhylee then had shots saved and Max put a good corner into the box but unfortunately nobody could get on the end of it. Seb was again in goal and he was called into action saving first with his feet, then diving to make a good save following a corner. The Colts then doubled their lead just before half time when Luke passed to Ollie who went on a good run and shot to make it 2-0.
Half Time 2-0
Max hit the post early in the first half and then Luke won the ball and played a through-ball to Matty who scored to make it 3-0. There was again some good defending from Marley, Sami and Manraj on his first game back following his recent injury. More good pressure from FC Premier resulted in Luke going close with his shot hitting the post. Beacon Lions then pulled a goal back to make it 3-1. Ollie then went on a great run beating a number of players but unfortunately his shot was saved by the keeper. Rhylee then battled well to win and keep the ball before getting a shot away to make it 4-1. More attacking play from the Colts resulted in Ollie shooting over and Luke shooting wide before Beacon Lions pulled another goal back following a counter-attack to make it 4-2. There was a late penalty shout for FC Premier when Luke was fouled on the edge of the area but the referee awarded a free-kick right on the line. Ollie took the free-kick which was deflected out for a corner which ended up being the final kick of the game.
Full Time 4-2
The Colts once again showed what they can do when they all work hard, listen to Ian, talk to each other and play as a team. Well done boys.
