Deja vu with the linesmen

The morning started off with a number of players unavailable, Jay, Warren & Mantej...followed by the playing one told us we were playing on Astro Turf...

Sam Jones volunteered to stand in as our goalkeeper, and was a natural...

We started off well and were not put under any pressure from the opposition and it was just a matter of time before we scored, and Michael duly obliged with the opening goal of the game. Lane Head couldn't handle Michael's pace and trickery. Against the run of play Lane Head equalised from a corner...or had they...had the ball crossed the line...deja vu a la 1966 World Cup final and for the second game running the linesman's decision was crucial...the ball had crossed the line, the goal stood, 1-1, if ever a team were lucky to draw level then Lane Head were that team they hadn't caused any problems all game.

With four minutes to go, the opposition manager was telling his players they could nick this and that was how they had played all game, no danger to us but likely to snatch a winner...but we had other ideas, Michael calmly slotted the ball home, 2-1 with three minutes to go. No silly mistakes now...the lads had played well and deserved to win..

But there was to be that moment of madness...a free-kick to Lane Head on the edge of their penalty area, would this be their last chance to snatch a draw...bizarrely their manager called them to take it short, Michael nipped in and made it 3-1 the perfect hat-trick, the Lane Head manager then proceeded to tell his team they should of played it into the danger area...hang on...wasn't it him who told them to play it short...oh well guess he couldn't man up and accept responsibility.

A great performance and well deserved win today
