Diversity, Equality & Inclusion 1 of 4

1. Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Policy

Finchley Rugby Club is committed to the promotion of equality, inclusion, diversity and fair treatment in all areas of the club.

We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment or victimisation on the grounds of sex or gender, race, ethnic or national origin, disability, age, religious or philosophical belief (including lack of belief), sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy, maternity or paternity, gender reassignment or social background.

We will therefore:

  • Provide a welcoming environment for players, members, parents, officials, coaches, volunteers, staff and all visitors from all sections of the community, regardless of background or ability.

  • Commit to taking steps to develop a culture which prevents individuals, including players, members, parents, officials, coaches, volunteers, staff and all visitors being discriminated against.

  • Address any incidents of discrimination, harassment or victimisation that are brought to Finchley Rugby Club’s attention.

  • Comply with our legal (e.g. Equality Act 2010) and moral obligations to eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation (retaliation), and to improve equality in all our club activities.

  • Apply our training and/or disciplinary processes in the event of complaints of discrimination or misconduct relating to alleged breaches of this equality policy. Where these are upheld, we will apply appropriate sanctions, which in serious instances could include expulsion, and we may refer to external agencies where appropriate. (We shall comply with the framework laid out by the RFU e.g. in Regulation 19 of their Rules, see links below.)

  • Pay due regard to the promotion of equality, diversity and fair treatment during the development and delivery of any new policies, procedures and actions taken in the future.

  • Recognise and encourage diversity, inclusion and respect in our volunteers and staff, and those who have roles within the clubs.

  • Take steps wherever possible to increase the proportion of participants (including players, members, officials, coaches and volunteers) from under-represented groups.

  • This policy will be reviewed regularly and be updated from time to time.
