Finchley CC wishes you all the very best in these challenging times.
We are really looking forward to welcoming you all to a brilliant 2021 season of junior cricket – full of fun, development and friendship – some light perhaps after the dark of a difficult winter. Like you all, we are watching how COVID19 guidelines and regulations develop in the coming weeks. We are planning, however, a full season of outdoor cricket activity – and set this out for you here.
We aim to begin our season the week after Easter, with our first evening sessions on Monday 5 April and Friday 9 April.
If we are able, we will invite you all to registration and ‘back to cricket’ sessions on Saturday 28 March and Saturday 3 April, 1000-1200.
We have a group of excellent, qualified male and female coaches itching to support you throughout the season. You will all remember Simon, Graham, Bex, Piya, Matt, Lucy and Anisha and several others besides!
This year we are also planning to be featuring several professional cricketers as coaches across our evening sessions and cricket camps. We had an excellent top cricketer coach from New Zealand lined up to be our Director of Coaching but he is now concerned about Covid-19 travel conditions to and from NZ this year, and we will be reviewing the situation and possible replacements in the next few weeks, and will keep you posted on this.
We are also looking forward to being supported on the coaching front by Keerthi Ranasinghe (ex- Sri Lanka international and already well known to many of you), Steve Selwood (Derbyshire CCC) and Imran Qayyum (current Kent CCC cricketer) – all Finchley CC playing legends – and by several of our current women county and regional representative player coaches.
Our evening practice sessions for boys and girls will be on Mondays and Fridays throughout the summer, starting Monday 5th April and Friday 9th April:
• Fridays – all age groups – under 9’s and below 1630-1730, under 11’s and above 1800-2000 – community night!
• Mondays – under 11- under 17 age group squads – 1800-2000
We will be running cricket camps for all abilities throughout the holiday periods of the season (6-8 April and 12-14 April in the Easter holiday; 1-3 June in the half term week; and then every week, 12 July-19 August in the Summer holiday). These will be run by Simon Stevens and his team, supported by Steve Selwood and colleagues in the provision of some elite coaching camps throughout the season for aspirational junior cricketers looking for age group representative honours and recognition.
As in 2020, we will be fully compliant with all COVID19 guidelines and regulations as they develop – health and safety will be paramount.
In the meantime, all very best wishes to you all – and our commitment to provide you with the best possible junior cricket season we can. We so look forward to seeing you all just as soon as we possibly can!
