Saturday started off badly before we even set off with people not turning up, so off we went to Blackpool with 15 players. For the first 10 minutes, the game seemed to be going well with both sides proving to be in contest for the game, then Blackpool scored. As soon as Blackpool scored their first try that was it they was off and we weren't stopping them.
Throwing the ball around seemed to be working well for the scorpions as it got them try after try in the first half. A couple of terrible decisions from the referee let us down (as agreed by both sides) a clear knock on seen from Mars was allowed play on and also a 4 on 1 rip was apparently 1 on 1! However the referee's decisions couldn't have changed the outcome of the game.
For what we did do good on the day, good ballwork from the half backs saw the ball go to Chris Jones for him to do a 20m burst and release to Michael Hall who showed great speed past the oppositions wing to get bulldogs their first try, Chris Brown added the extras. Our second and last try of the day came from the back of the scrum 5 minutes from the end which saw Sean Stubbs feed the ball to Josh Hulme who was given too much space within the oppositions 20m zone which allowed him to glide through and score under the sticks, Dan Ogden scored his first conversion.
Props to all the lads who went out to Blackpool and put a shirt on and gave it their best effort. Well done to Blackpool Scorpions who showed great skills and earned a great win.
Onwards and upwards to the next game lads when we face Little Hulton at their ground.
